November 2019 Fairyloot – Unboxing

Fairyloot November 2019 cover

Hi everyone and happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? I don’t have any spectacular plans, but I’ll try to catch up with writing book reviews. But first I have a new post for you today. That’s right, it’s time for my unboxing of the November 2019 Fairyloot box! The theme was Magical Folk, so let’s dive right in!

As always, we start with the spoiler card featuring artwork by Taratjah. I love the flying kitty and the colours in the background!

Reading journal and ornament

The first item in this box is something that’s become a bit of a tradition. It’s a reading journal! But this time, it’s not for 6 months but an entire year. On the outside it looks very similar to the previous editions, but it’s slightly bigger. And on the inside we have gorgeous illustrations by Monolimeart showing the zodiac signs. And we also get a year-long reading challenge, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone.

Next, we have a wooden ornament for in your Christmas tree. It’s designed by KDPLetters and features a quote by Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series: “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”. And isn’t that right? I’ll have to find a spot in our tree to put this up!

Secret book and sleep mask

The next item is an absolute stunner. It’s the second volume of the Secret Book! This is a hollow book you can put on your shelves between other books and it’s perfect to hide your secrets. Noverantale created this gorgeous design (I mean, just look at it!) and on the inside you’ll see quotes from various books: Girls of Paper and Fire, Rebel of the Sands, Wintersong, to name but a few.

Up next: a gorgeous sleep mask! I love this deep blue colour and the gold print that was lettered by StellaBookishArt! The quote reads “It was impossible of course, but when did that ever stop any dreamer of dreaming”, from Laini Taylor’s Strange the Dreamer. I absolutely adored that book and this (supersoft!) sleep mask is just perfect!

Woodmark and iron-on patch

One of the 2019 releases I really want to read (looking at you, book buying ban!) is Spin the Dawn, by Elizabeth Lim. And now I have the perfect bookmark to use when I do! This beautiful woodmark features art of the sorcerer Edan by Merwildandco, and lettering by CatarinaBookDesigns. That quote reads “All legends have a spark of truth”. Now I can’t wait to read this book!

The items just keep coming with this box. Next up, we have an iron-on patch. Bookmarkd.tattoos created this patch inspired by Angelfall, by Susan Ee. I have to admit I don’t know this book, so I have no idea what it’s about nor while this sword has a teddybear on it… But I’m intrigued!

Phone ring, tarot cards and more

The next item is not inspired by a specific fandom, but by fae in general. It’s a phone ring that features a design by Noverantale. The quote reads “You’re not my type. Fae are my type” and I love the details in the design!

Before moving on to the book of the month, we still have the tarot cards to unveil. These two cards feature the main characters from the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, by Kerri Maniscalco. Audrey Rose is The World, and Thomas is The Devil. I love the roses and the other details in these illustrations!

And as always, we have the Fairyscoop newsletter and the bookmark with this month’s artwork!

The book of the month

But now it’s time to reveal the featured book of the November 2019 Fairyloot box! It is… A River of Royal Blood, by Amanda Joy! It tells the story of Eva, a princess born with the magick of blood and marrow. That magick hasn’t been seen since Queen Raina massacred thousands – including her own sister – five generations ago. Now Eva must face her older sister Isa in a battle to the death if she hopes to ascend to the Ivory Throne. But then Eva is attacked by an assassin and she discovers it’s not just her sister who wants her dead. Now she must turn to a powerful fey instructor and a mysterious prince.

HOW AMAZING DOES THAT SOUND?????!!!!! And did I mention the world is inspired by North Africa?! In fact, I’m going to start reading this as soon as I’m finished writing this post. And just look at that cover, isn’t it gorgeous? The purple letters are super shiny! This is also a special edition, because the regular edition has blue-ish letters instead of purple ones. In addition, it has black sprayed edges and it is signed by the author!

The book also comes with a letter from the author that features character art by Janarunneck. Don’t these characters look intriguing?! I’m so excited about this one!

And that concludes my unboxing of the November 2019 Fairyloot box. My favourite items are the secret book and the sleep mask. What are yours? Let me know in the comments below!
