Hi everyone! I don’t know about you, but I love that the summer heat is gone and that we get to curl up with blankets and tea again. And of course it’s also the moment to pull out the Halloween decorations. Ghosts, black cats and witches: this might just be my favourite time of the year! Speaking of witches… The Fairyloot team chose “Witches Be Crazy” as the theme for their September 2019 box! I couldn’t wait to have this one in my hands, so let’s take a look at what was inside!
As always, we start with the spoiler card, which you can see in the picture at the top of this post. Once again, Taratjah has perfectly captured the theme of the month in a gorgeous and cute piece of art. This is one of my favourite cards so far!
Tote bag and deck of cards
The first item in this box is a tote bag, designed by Band of Weirdos! I absolutely adore this, just look at the drawings!!!! It’s perfect for witches (and muggles, I suppose) to take their stuff everywhere! This is the fourth tote bag I got from Fairyloot boxes, but this one feels sturdier than the other ones. The material is thicker and the bottom is pre-formed (does that make sense…?), so you can take even bigger books with you!

You’re not a true witch without a deck of cards, but no worries, Fairyloot has got you covered! This deck looks stunning with its shiny edges! The jack, queen and king of each colour are inspired by famous fictional witches. Obsidiayan designed the illustrations based on Charmed and Sabrina, while Crooked Yew brought the characters from the Throne of Glass series and the featured book of this month to life (I’m not going to tell you what that is, you’ll have to read on).

Fluffy socks and enamel pin
Next up we have… fluffy socks! I’m not going to lie, I looooove fluffy socks. I have pairs in different colours and I’m secretly happy when it gets cold because then I can wear them. These socks feature a witch’s hat at the ankle and black and white stripes around your foot. And they are incredibly soft! This immediately became my favourite pair, even though I haven’t worn them yet. But once this post is online, I’ll put them on, I think.

The next item is an enamel pin, created by That’s Lovely Dear. It’s shaped like a coffee mug with the Starbucks logo, except that this lady wears a witch’s hat. And on the mug you can see a cauldron, bats and stars. The text along the logo reads “not your basic witch”, to make clear to people you’re not basic.

Bath bomb and drinking straws
Is there anything better after a long day than soaking in a bath? I don’t think so either. So I am super excited about this bath bomb, made by Little Heart Gifts! I love love love the fact that it comes in a little cauldron! And how amazing do the contents look? It’s yellow with blue specks and even looks a bit like a bubbling potion, don’t you think? Oh, and the melon scent makes it perfect for a relaxing bath!

Up next we have a set of drinking straws. These straws are made of metal, so they are reusable. One of them is white with black splatters and the word “magic”, while the other one is black with white splatters and the word “witch”. Also included is a straw brush to clean them after use. I rarely use straws, but when I do, I’ll probably reach for these from now on!

Notepad, tarot cards and more
Who’s your favourite witch? Mine is Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. So I was happy to see an item inspired by her! This is a cute little sticky notepad, featuring Luna’s patronus, wand and glasses. And of course the quote “You’re just as sane as I am”! In fact, it’s so adorable that I don’t want to write on it…

And finally, before moving on to the featured book of the month: the tarot cards. After the Harry Potter-inspired cards from the previous months, it’s now time for another series. These two cards are inspired by the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi and designed by Loweana Art. Unfortunately, I haven’t read these books yet, so I have no idea who these characters are… But that doesn’t mean I can’t admire how gorgeous they look!

The book
And so we have almost reached the bottom of the September 2019 Fairyloot box, but first we still have the book of the month to unveil! And it is… Serpent & Dove, by Shelby Mahurin! I’m so excited about this one! It’s about a witch and witch hunter who are forced to marry each other. It just screams magic, betrayal, enemies-to-lovers, romance and banter! Not only does it sound amazing, it looks the part too! The book has golden shimmery sprayed edges (*heart-eyes emoji*), artwork on the reverse of the dust jacket – designed by SaintDri -, and is signed by the author! Oh, and SaintDri also created the character art on the back of the author letter!

So that was my unboxing of the September 2019 Fairyloot box. My favourite items are the socks, the tote bag and the bath bomb. What are yours? Let me know in the comments below!
